Relationships between repeated instruction on inhalation therapy, medication adherence, and health status in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

ABSTRACT
Adherence to inhalation therapy is a critical determinant of the success chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) management. However, in practice, nonadherence very common COPD patients. The effects adherence have not been fully studied, and less known about relationship between medication quality life COPD. Our aim assess factors that contribute examine their correlation with life.A cross-sectional analysis 88 patients was performed using self-reported questionnaire responses on 5-point Likert scale.Of who were potential participants, 55 (63%) responded usable information. only significant factor associated overall mean score receiving repeated instruction techniques (P = 0.032). Of respondents, 22 (40.0%) given verbal and/or demonstrations technique by respiratory physician. Significant correlations found health-related (St George's Respiratory Questionnaire: total, r -0.35, P 0.023; symptoms, -0.43, 0.002; impacts, 0.011). Furthermore, showed better scores than those did receive (total, 0.030; 0.038; 0.019).Repeated for may therapeutic regimens, which relates health status
