ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationship between specific body composition and risk Cognitive Impairment (CI) in middle-aged Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients. This cross-sectional included 504 hospitalized patients with T2DM from Department Endocrinology Metabolism Tianjin Union Medical Center. Subjects were grouped by sex, cognitive status assessed using Montreal Assessment (MoCA). ability investigated use linear regression analysis. association CI determined logistic analysis. The prevalence 39.3% patients. After adjusting for age, education, marriage status, carotid atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular disease hemoglobin, multiple analysis showed that lean mass index (LMI), (BMI) appendicular skeletal muscle (SMI) significant predictors MoCA scores men (p < 0.05). In addition, BMI (OR 0.913, 95% 0.840-0.992) LMI 0.820, 0.682-0.916) independent protective factors males. adjusted dietary control diabetes disease, visceral obesity (VO, OR 1.950, 1.033-3.684) abdominal (AO, 2.537, 1.191-5.403) female patients. The results suggest there may be different mechanisms underlying compositions performance male T2DM. our finding potential determinants impairment facilitate development intervention programs type diabetic Nevertheless, more large prospective studies looking at cognition changes over time are needed future further support their association.
