ABSTRACT
Abstract: Pharmacologically active stem of the oriental herbal adaptogen, Siberian ginseng, was employed for ecofriendly synthesis ginseng silver nanoparticles (Sg-AgNPs) and gold (Sg-AuNPs). First, metabolic characterization sample, liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis (indicated presence eleutherosides A E), total phenol content, reducing sugar were analyzed. Second, water extract sample mediated biological both Sg-AgNPs Sg-AuNPs that crystalline face-centered cubical structures with a Z-average hydrodynamic diameter 126 189 nm, respectively. Moreover, Fourier transform infrared indicated proteins aromatic hydrocarbons play key role in formation stabilization Sg-AgNPs, whereas phenolic compounds accounted stability Sg-AuNPs. 3-(4,5-Dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay determined conferred strong cytotoxicity against MCF7 (human breast cancer cell line) only slightly toxic to HaCaT keratinocyte at 10 µg·mL -1 . However, did not display cytotoxic effects lines. The disc diffusion dose-dependent increase zone inhibition Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538), Bacillus anthracis (NCTC 10340), Vibrio parahaemolyticus 33844), Escherichia coli (BL21) treated show inhibitory activity. In addition, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl demonstrated possess antioxidant To best our knowledge, this is first report unraveling potential Eleutherococcus senticosus nanoparticle along its applications, which turn would promote widespread usage endemic ginseng.
