ABSTRACT
Intending to obtain Punica granatum L. extract (PE)-loaded drug delivery system of better impact and biomedical applicability, the current study reports use crosslinked PVA nanofibers (NFs) as platforms incorporating different amounts biosynthesized PE-CS-gold nanoparticles (PE-CS-Au NPs).PE-conjugated CS-Au NPs) were synthesized via green chemistry approach. The formation PE-CS-Au NPs was confirmed by UV spectroscopy, DLS, SEM STEM. then dispersed into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution at ratios, where optimized ratios selected for electrospinning further studies. Crosslinking loaded performed glutaraldehyde vapor. morphology, chemical compositions, thermal stability mechanical properties NFs evaluated SEM, FTIR DSC. Swelling capacity, biodegradability, PE release profiles, kinetics, antibacterial cell biocompatibility also demonstrated.By 0.6% 0.9%, diameters decreased from 295.7±83.1 nm in neat 165.6±43.4 147.8±42.7 nm, respectively. It is worth noting that crosslinking incorporation improved obtained NFs. controlled a Fickian diffusion mechanism (n value ˂0.5), whereas Higuchi mathematical model which could describe this release. activity found be directly proportional amount incorporated NPs. human fibroblasts (HFF-1) showed highest viability (123%) seeding over mats containing 0.9% NPs.The results suggest electrospun composites can used agents against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, suitable scaffolds adhesion, growth proliferation fibroblast populations.
