ABO and Rhesus Blood Group Distribution and Blood Donation Willingness Among First-Year Health Students in a Saudi University

ABSTRACT
Understanding the distribution of blood groups and donation willingness in a population is crucial managing banks transfusion services. Moreover, awareness one's own group essential especially emergencies that mandate donation. This study aimed to determine ABO Rhesus (Rh) among health students, students' knowledge about their group, donate blood.This cross-sectional included all newly accepted students large university Eastern Province Saudi Arabia (N=1145) during August 2020. The data self-administered questionnaire serology results Rh factors. Chi-squared Fisher's exact tests were performed followed by multivariable binary logistic regression analysis which identified predictors donation.Blood O was most frequent type (51.1%), A (24.5%) B (20.4%). majority (93.3%) had Rh-positive factor. When we compared answers with sample results, (75.5%) correctly reported groups. Male those previous history more than others. Of total sample, 47.3% willing within next year. Positive student being male, Interestingly, family member healthcare field significantly less likely blood.Blood positive Most good groups, half blood. Efforts encourage young participate are crucial.
