ABSTRACT
Central post-stroke pain (CPSP) is refractory to pharmacotherapy (eg, NSAIDs, opioids, antidepressants, and anticonvulsants), may require transcranial or deep brain stimulation.A 67-year-old woman presented with severe paroxysmal cramp-like on the right side, including head both upper lower extremities. The started 5 years earlier, was initially mild occasional, but gradually intensified an unbearable degree average of 10-15 daily episodes, each lasting for 5-10 mins. patient disclosed "hemorrhagic stroke" 10 ago that resulted in hemiplegia side. CT examination verified lesion. received injection 2-mL 2% lidocaine under ultrasound guidance block stellate ganglion. Pain subsided rapidly intensity frequency. On seventh day, no longer had episodes. At last follow-up, 9 months later, free from pain.Ultrasound-guided ganglion a viable alternative CPSP pharmacotherapy.
