ABSTRACT
Sulfotransferase isoform 1A1 (SULT1A1) plays a key role in the metabolism of variety endo- and xenobiotics it's activity could influence response to drugs. Our previous studies have focused on impact genetic variants SULT1A1 enzymatic Caucasians African-Americans. However, contribution Asians has not been explored. In this study, we investigated collective effects both copy number (CNVs) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) promoter region, coding 3' untranslated region Japanese subjects. SNPs were associated with (P > 0.05). SULT1A1*1/2 (Arg213His) was marginally = 0.037). CNVs strongly (trend test P 0.008) accounted for 10% observed variability conclusion, play pivotal determination subjects, highlighting ethnic differences drug therapeutic efficacy.
