Predictors of Hospitalization Among Older Adults with COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia: A Cross-Sectional Study of a Nationally Representative Sample

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to identify the predictors hospitalization in older (≥60 years) patients with coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) Saudi Arabia.Patients were randomly selected from a COVID-19 database maintained by Ministry Health, Arabia. All aged ≥60 years, had reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)-confirmed COVID-19, and registered during March 2020 July 2020. Medical sociodemographic characteristics retrieved database. Additional data collected telephone interviews conducted trained health professionals. Descriptive statistics multiple logistic regression analyses used analyze relationship between patient risk hospitalization.Of 613 included (51.1% females), more than half (57.3%) 60 69 years age, 53% (324/613) been hospitalized. independent age ≥65 (OR = 2.35, 95% CI: 1.66-3.33, P < 0.001), having one comorbidity 1.55, 1.09-2.20, 0.01), diabetes mellitus 1.52, 1.09-2.11, hypertension 1.40, 1.007-1.97, 0.04), chronic kidney disease 3.87, 1.41-10.58, 0.008), history hospital admission within preceding year 1.69, 1.11-2.55, 0.013).
