The Role of Grammarly in Assessing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Writing

ABSTRACT
This research aimed at investigating the use of Grammarly software and in what terms it was more effective reducing students’ errors EFL writing compared to teacher corrective feedback (indirect feedback). used quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. There were 40 university students from English Education Study Program private Indonesia who selected randomized clustered into two; experimental control groups. The tested beginning end research. data analyzed by using t-test formula. results confirm that whose work is evaluated have significant reduction their those shown be reduce vocabulary usages (diction), language (grammar), mechanics (spelling punctuation). However, less improve content organization writing. can suggest EFL/ESL teachers an alternative assessment for supports autonomous learning environment.
