Cancer has become the leading cause of human death in world, due to its uncontrolled and rapid proliferation properties.Radio chemotherapy are used treatment almost all types cancer.They mostly act by increasing production reactive oxygen specious (ROS) free radicals.ROS levels believed be higher cancer cells compared their normal counterparts this is suggested related cell growth, angiogenesis, metastasis.Although cure rate for many would increased radiation dose escalation, balancing potential against risk tissue injury a complex endeavor.Because toxicity during radiotherapy pathological conditions that include overproduction unstable species, efforts ongoing develop new radioprotective drugs.Antioxidants an example co which protect tissues radiation-induced damage with IR-induced cancer.Since discovery superoxide dimutases (SODs), family metalloproteins, it clear these enzymes provide essential defense radical.Application native SOD been limited short half-lives, lack cellular uptake hypersensitivity.Metal-containing mimetics have now emerged as being especially promising, they different kinds diseases, cancer.It from removing radicals produced irradiation.The objective review summarize most current metalloporphyrin SODm combination other radio chemotherapy.
