ABSTRACT
Simplification is an important design step of water supply and irrigation pipes networks. It recognized by making the original network easier to be understood analyzed. Water hammer in water-supply networks may give rise high low pressures, due superposition reflected pressure waves. The effect networks’ simplification on phenomenon investigated. This study uses a simple two loops composed 12 density polyethylenes (HDPE) with different diameters, thicknesses, roughness coefficients representing general parallel/series system. fed from boundary head reservoir loaded either distributed or concentrated demands. According both hydraulic plus quality equivalence, three levels simplifications are performed. Also, demands’ concentration transient flow checked. initialized demands which suddenly shut-off released. mass oscillation (WHAMO) software implicit finite difference scheme for solving momentum continuity equations at unsteady-state case used simulation. All scenarios produced results showed that equivalence increase rate simplified compared one. However, adverse effect. was found that, as degree increases deviate more those network. Therefore, distribution should done very careful caution.
