ABSTRACT
Abstract Available freshwater resources are becoming harder to obtain due climate change, population growth, industrial development, and water pollution. The main technologies in the field of wastewater desalination include reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, thermal distillation, adsorption etc. Capacitive deionization technology (CDI) belongs a novel electrochemical with low energy consumption environmental impact, simple equipment structure convenient operation. With importance highlighted, some great technological progress CDI has been made electrode materials, reactor hybrid process. In this paper, development was expounded from three aspects achieve goal strong adaptability, cost capacity by analysis latest research papers. Corresponding improved methods summarized solve bottlenecks such as inefficient vulnerable selectivity unreasonable unit structure, limitations single for promoting continuous technology.
