ABSTRACT
Several thermal solidification processes have been developed mainly in Japan. They are lightweight aggregates, brick, interlocking tile, char, and slag. A full-scale plant of them has successfully operated for more than 10 years. The quality the end products is better traditional ones. all substitutive to existing Japanese experience proves that technically feasible, but not economically. Their manufacturing cost always higher market price. In addition, they consume large amounts energy. However, if identified a process sludge disposal, worth considering big city where there no place go. can be reused inside city. new alternative "Portland cement". Portland cement manufacturer accepts sewage sludge, being paid some amount money. An average payment US$100 each 1,000 kg ash or cake. either cake at same It about 50 30% energy solidification. question which better, dewatered incinerated ash, application. answer "it depends on distance between plant."
