ABSTRACT
This paper contributes with a review of current and future electric vehicle battery geometries, as there are few comparisons regarding performance criteria in the literature. With these considerations, this seeks to fill gap by comparing commercial batteries different geometries. First, specifications each (found on manufacturers' websites or specialized media) presented. Then, evaluation defined considering two distinct applications: economy cars, using Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) method. From that analysis, blade presented best overall good rating for both applications. The cylindrical geometry followed suited better vehicles, pouch showing promise use economy-driven vehicles mostly. Lastly, case study is carried out evaluating application vehicle. It was found when compared new technologies, potential improvement any studied enormous. In particular, Licerion (Sion) showed range capacity-to-weight ratio, while 4680 (Panasonic) (BYD) were superior capacity-to-volume capacity-to-cost ratios, respectively.
