ABSTRACT
Hemorrhoidal disease is very common in western countries and rectal bleeding the main symptom complained by patients. Nowadays ultimate goal of treatment to block with minimally-invasive techniques minimize post-procedural pain.The aim this study assess preliminary results emborrhoid technique (embolization superior arteries branches) as a new tool for proctologist treat severe hemorrhoids causing anemia. Many categories patients might benefit from treatment, such not eligible conventional surgery, responding fit who refused endorectal surgical therapy.From May 2017 November 2018 total 16 chronic due underwent super-selective embolization at department General Surgery La Spezia, S. Andrea Hospital, Italy. Median age was 59 years. 14 were males (87.5%).No short-term complications observed maximum follow up (12 months). The reduction improvement quality life obtained (87.5%).Our study, although small number, demonstrates that coils safe effective does lead immediate complications.
