ABSTRACT
To evaluate whether a selected group of 9 children with history congenital esotropia is capable producing vergence eye responses to fusional disparity stimuli.Nine and 5 age-matched normal binocular vision were examined. Using full-field target, base out 3 prism diopters placed in front both eyes recorded. In five patients, the initial response was saccade generated by dominant eye, followed disconjugate movement one or eyes. In two patients long standing uncorrected strabismus, almost purely saccadic, while other whom early surgery resulted abilities, smooth movements recorded. This study adds further evidence that are disparity. The usually start response. preference for saccadic correlated sensorial tests stereopsis motor fusion may be related size suppression scotoma deviating duration misalignment, both.
