JAK 2 mutation positive polycythemia vera presenting as internal carotid artery dissection followed by dural sinus thrombosis

ABSTRACT
Polycythemia vera is a stem cell disorder, often complicated by thrombotic and hemorrhagic events.We report case of polycythemia in 60-years-old man which presented with acute ischemic stroke.Computed tomography angiography head neck vessels was perfomed revealed left internal carotid artery dissection.During his hospitalization neurological status deteriorated brain MRI, MRA MRV showed right jugular vein, superior sagittal, sigmoid transverse sinus thrombosis hemorrhage frontal parietal lobe.Repeated laboratory evaluation slightly elevated platelets hematological consultation requested.Results sternal puncture suggested myeloproliferative disorder JAK2 mutation positive.Thrombus formation the dural extremely rare PV patients.To best our knowledge this first describing occurence stroke, dissection patient.It highlights need awareness association cerebrovascular disease should be considered as part differential diagnosis patient event otherwise unknown origin.
