ABSTRACT
Fatty acid synthase (FASN) provides palmitate for cell membrane formation in colorectal cancer (CRC) cells, however, is also available the blood of CRC patients. The aim this study was to examine whether orlistat, a FASN inhibitor, able attenuate growth despite availability extracellular palmitate.Palmitate concentrations were measured serum from patients and healthy controls. HT-29 cells treated with orlistat palmitate.Treatment caused dose-dependent inhibition proliferation. In turn, delivery at doses lower than those found reversed by up 10 μM.Inhibition proliferation which present high levels serum. Therefore, may be effective vivo only concentrations.
