Effect of a Pseudoallergen-Free Diet in Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria: A Pilot Study

ABSTRACT
Objective: The role of dietary factors in the etiopathogenesis chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) has been a matter discussion and it is widely accepted that most cases triggered by food are caused pseudoallergic reactions.In this prospective study, our aim was to investigate effect pseudoallergen-free diet (PAFD) on disease activity, need for antihistamine use, quality life patients with CSU. Materials Methods:The study included adult who were follow up CSU duration at least 6 months had symptoms every day or other day.The given diary, which also assessment daily activity.The Urticaria Activity Score (UAS), Chronic Quality Life Questionnaire score baseline 4th week, frequency use obtained.According change UAS (∆UAS), patients' response PAFD classified as strong (∆UAS≥8), partial (8>∆UAS≥4), no (∆UAS<4).Results: Twenty-three patients, 19 females (82.6%) 4 males (17.4%), completed mean age 43±4.6 years.According ∆UAS, (26.1%) response, 11 (47.8%) unresponsive PAFD.The ∆UAS value responded 8.1 (min:4, max:15).At end 9 (39.1%)patients significant improvement their life.There (26%) both improved scores.The decreased 10 (43.5%) patients. Conclusion:PAFD may help decrease activity CSU.We observed could be reduced patient's adding PFAD therapy.
