ABSTRACT
Background The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has caused an unprecedented worldwide public health crisis that requires new management approaches. COVIDApp is a mobile app was adapted for the of institutionalized individuals in long-term care facilities. Objective aim this paper to report implementation innovative tool facility residents as high-risk population, specifically early identification and self-isolation suspected cases, remote monitoring mild real-time progression infection. Methods implemented 196 centers collaboration with 64 primary teams. following parameters COVID-19 were reported daily: signs/symptoms; diagnosis by reverse transcriptase–polymerase chain reaction; absence symptoms ≥14 days; total deaths; number workers isolated COVID-19. at-risk also described. Results Data recorded from 10,347 up 4000 between April 1 30, 2020. A rapid increase cases seen until day 6 but decreased during last two weeks (from 1084 282 cases). confirmed increased 419 (day 6) 1293 22) remained stable week. Of individuals, 5,090 (49,2%) asymptomatic days. 854/10,347 deaths (8.3%) reported; 383 these (44.8%) suspected/confirmed cases. high over 30 days, while 2 weeks. facilities 19/196 (9.5%) 3/196 (1.5%). Conclusions can help clinicians rapidly detect remotely monitor among thus limiting risk spreading virus. platform shows infection real time aid designing strategies.
