Effectiveness of an Interactive mHealth App (EVITE) in Improving Lifestyle After a Coronary Event: Randomized Controlled Trial

ABSTRACT
Background Coronary heart disease is one of the leading causes mortality worldwide. Secondary prevention essential, as it reduces risk further coronary events. Mobile health (mHealth) technology could become a useful tool to improve lifestyles. Objective This study aimed evaluate effect an mHealth intervention on people with who received percutaneous intervention. Improvements in lifestyle regarding diet, physical activity, and smoking; level knowledge healthy control cardiovascular factors (CVRFs); therapeutic adherence quality life were analyzed. Methods was randomized controlled trial parallel group design assigned 1:1 either involving smartphone app (mHealth group) or standard care (control group). The used for setting aims, self-monitoring CVRFs using measurements records, educating access information their screens about lifestyles adhering treatment, giving motivation through feedback achievements aspects improve. Both groups assessed after 9 months. primary outcome variables Mediterranean frequency food consumed, patient-reported smoking, CVRFs, life, well-being, satisfaction.
