ABSTRACT
Background Telemonitoring of activities daily living (ADLs) offers significant potential for gaining a deeper insight into the home care needs older adults experiencing cognitive decline, particularly those alone. In 2016, our team and health institution in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, sought to test this technology enhance support provided by clinical teams residing alone facing deficits. The Support Seniors’ Autonomy program (SAPA [Soutien à l’autonomie des personnes âgées]) project was initiated within context, embracing an innovative research approach that combines action design science. Objective This paper presents protocol SAPA project, with aim facilitating replication similar initiatives future. primary objectives were (1) codevelop ADL telemonitoring system aligned requirements key stakeholders, (2) deploy real environment identify specific use cases, (3) factors conducive its sustained real-world setting. Given context adoption (ADR) deemed crucial. ADR is framework crafting practical solutions intricate problems encountered organizational context. Methods consisted 2 cycles development (alpha beta) involved cyclical repetitions stages 3 develop ADLs. Stakeholders, such as managers, clinicians, adults, their families, included each codevelopment cycle. Qualitative quantitative data collected throughout project.
