ABSTRACT
<title>BACKGROUND</title> Real-world implementation of psychological interventions for psychosis is poor. Barriers include therapy being insufficiently usable and useful a diverse range people. User-centered, inclusive design approaches could improve the usability therapy, which may increase uptake, adherence, effectiveness.
<title>OBJECTIVE</title> This study aimed to optimize an existing intervention, Thinking Well, targets reasoning processes in paranoia using basic digital interface. <title>METHODS</title> We conducted inclusive, user-centered research characterized by purposive sampling extreme users from margins groups, ethnographic investigation problem context, iterative prototyping solutions. The UK Design Council’s double diamond method was used. consisted 4 phases: discover, including case series stakeholder interviews, desk research, user profiling, system mapping, mood board; define, consisting workshops synthesize findings generate brief; develop, involving concept prototype testing; deliver, final minimal viable product storyboarded iteratively coded. <title>RESULTS</title> Consistent with our previous work, Well showed medium large effects on well-being small reasoning. These were maintained at follow-up despite some participants reporting difficulties Insights discover phase confirmed that challenged information complexity poor accessibility. Participants generally positive about potential technology be enjoyable, help manage paranoia, provide tailored interpersonal support therapists peers, although they reported privacy security concerns. define highlighted redesign should monitoring, simplify processing, enhance enjoyment trust, promote personalization normalization, offer flexible support. During develop over 60 concepts created, 2 key thoughts visualized as bubbles journey selected storyboarding. output deliver innovative SlowMo. SlowMo works helping people notice their worries fast thinking habits, encourages them slow down moment find ways feeling safer. A Web app supports delivery 8 face-to-face sessions, are synchronized native mobile app. <title>CONCLUSIONS</title> makes use personalization, ambient information, visual metaphors tailor appeal, engagement, memorability diversity needs. Feasibility testing has been promising, efficacy now tested multicentered randomized controlled trial. demonstrates developments theory techniques can enhanced improving interface its impact daily life.
