ABSTRACT
<sec> <title>BACKGROUND</title> Podcasting has become a popular medium for medical education content. Educators and trainees of all levels are turning to podcasts high-quality, asynchronous Although numerous have emerged in recent years, few student-run exist. Near-peer mentoring been shown promote students’ personal professional identity formation. offer new delivering near-peer advice students an enduring accessible manner. </sec> <title>OBJECTIVE</title> This paper describes the creation <i>UnsCripted Medicine Podcast</i>—a podcast produced at University Cincinnati College Medicine. <title>METHODS</title> The planning preparatory phases spanned 6 months. Defining target audience establishing mission were key first steps. Efforts directed toward securing funding; obtaining necessary equipment; navigating technical considerations recording, editing, publishing podcast. In order ensure that high professionalism standards met, partnerships created with faculty from <title>RESULTS</title> Podcast</i> published 53 episodes its 2 years. number released per month ranges 0 5, mean 2.0 episodes. Twitter account 217 followers. listeners who subscribed via Apple Podcasts grew 86 year then 218 second year. show average rating 4.8 (out 5) on Podcasts, which is based 24 ratings. hosted 70 unique guests, including students, resident physicians, attending nurses, physicians’ family members, graduate leadership, educators. <title>CONCLUSIONS</title> Medical student–run fostering widely available convenient listeners. Additionally, creators can publish content lower barriers entry compared those other forms schools should consider student initiatives allow mentoring, augment community, facilitate formation, prepare rising physician workforce technological frontier practice.
