<sec>
BACKGROUND
An integration of digital medicine into medical education can help future physicians shape the transformation medicine.
OBJECTIVE
We aim to describe and evaluate a newly developed course for teaching (the Bielefeld model) first time.
METHODS
The was held with undergraduate students at Medical School Ostwestfalen-Lippe University, Germany, in 2023 evaluated via pretest-posttest surveys. subjective objective achievement superordinate learning objectives subordinate course, design, importance were using 5-point Likert scales (1=strongly disagree; 5=strongly agree); reasons absences assessed multiple-choice format, comments collected. comprised (1) understanding factors driving implementation products processes, (2) application this knowledge project, (3) empowerment design such solutions future. competencies related objective.
RESULTS
In total, 10 (male: n=4, 40%; female: n=6, 60%; mean age 21.7, SD 2.1 years) course. achieved well very well—the medians 4 (IQR 4-5), 3-5), 4-4) scale units first, second, third objectives, respectively, 3-4), 4.5 3-5) units, respectively. Participants mastered on average, better after than before (presurvey median 2.5, IQR 2-3 units; postsurvey 4, 3-4 units). concept rated as highly suitable achieving (median 5, 4-5 objectives). On strongly liked units) gained benefit from it 4.5, All fully agreed that staff strength category positive feedback or positive personal experience course received most comments.
CONCLUSIONS
framework shows promise attaining within realm medicine, notwithstanding constraint limited interpretability arising small sample size further limitations. aligns insights derived research domain albeit identifiable areas enhancement. A literature review indicates dearth publications pertaining analogous courses Germany. Future investigations should entail more exhaustive evaluation summary, constitutes valuable contribution incorporating education.
