Factors Associated With Digital Capacity for Health Promotion Among Primary Care Workers: Cross-Sectional Survey Study (Preprint)

ABSTRACT
<sec> <title>BACKGROUND</title> Health education and promotion are recognized as effective strategies for fostering healthy ageing, reducing the disease burden, addressing health inequalities, particularly when delivered through digital media. Primary care workers often regarded key providers of these interventions. Despite strong practical significance substantial individual demand, use media delivering practices was not widespread in China. One main challenges identified is providers’ inadequate capacities. However, little known about capacity among primary workers. </sec> <title>OBJECTIVE</title> This study aimed to investigate levels its associated factors community <title>METHODS</title> A total 1346 were recruited from across 47 communities Shanghai, China, cluster-stratified random sampling. The measured using revised version Digital Capabilities Framework. Web-based questionnaires distributed collect data March 20 29, 2024. Among them, 47.5% (570/1199) had high more than 19.6 hours per week, whereas 31.8% (381/1199) demonstrated trust. average level 16.71 (SD 2.94) out 25 points. Demographics, usage–related characteristics, perceived usefulness usability, attitudes, behaviors significant predictors capacities, explaining 44.4% variance. Master’s degree or above (β=.077; <i>P</i>=.013), usability (β=.235; <i>P</i>&lt;.001), attitudes toward (β=.095; <i>P</i>=.002), past (β=.377; <i>P</i>&lt;.001) significantly positive associations with capacities promotion. senior (β=–.076; <i>P</i>=.008) median (β=–.074; <i>P</i>=.01) titles a negative association levels. <title>CONCLUSIONS</title> digitally capable workforce required systems take full advantage Therefore, solutions necessary achieve enhanced professionals, including public policy making, empowerment, practices.
