ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to compare the Depuy curved (CVD) polyethylene insert plus (CVD+) design in TKA, which has an increased dished curve for articulation congruence and thus secondary anterior posterior stability. A randomized controlled trial with 100 patients was conducted two knee replacement designs (CVD CVD+ inserts) using Johnson DePuy PFC Sigma total replacement. All participants, were blinded reduce bias. achieved 100% recruitment maintained blinding throughout study. Demographics, baseline characteristics, KOOS scores recorded pre-operatively, at 3 12 months postoperatively. In addition, physical mental component (PCS MCS) collected post-operatively. Sixty had preoperative data, split equally into CVD groups. cohort's average age 71.47 years, 72% female, no statistically significant demographic differences between Preoperative measures showed Pain, ADL, or QOL. At months, noted, though QOL difference 64.45 ± 16.57 52.94 27.1 (p = 0.15). trends favored group, but QOL, PCS, MCS not significant. Complications similar, except stiffness, 0 cases group months; both 2 additional months. our study, there terms pain, activities daily living, standard outcomes. Further studies are required support benefit design, even widespread adoption been common across industry.
