ABSTRACT
In this study, neat HDPE and HDPE/PE-g-MA/EVA blend membranes were fabricated via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) method their fouling behaviors examined using filtration of BSA protein. Membranes characterized FESEM, AFM, ATR-FTIR analyses porosity measurement. Fouling behavior was analyzed the resistance-in-series (RIS), classic combined pore blocking models. The results RIS model revealed that magnitude inherent, reversible irreversible resistances decreased from 0.611 ×1013m-1 ,1.578 0.525 for membrane to 0.237 ×1013m-1, 0.789 0.154×1013m-1 membrane, respectively. None classical Hermia’s models able accurately predict during entire run. obtained indicated cake formation-intermediate provided good prediction mechanism both membranes. However, comparison between fitted parameters showed much greater occurred pure membrane. key reasons such different mainly attributed difference in hydrophobicity as well distribution size on surface
