ABSTRACT
Complex fibroadenomas are a fibroadenoma subtype harboring one or more complex features. We sought to evaluate the incidence of on biopsy and propose decision criteria for managing patients with these breast lesions.Complex were diagnosed in 63 401 (15.7%) found at consecutive percutaneous needle excisional surgical biopsy. evaluated clinical imaging presentations fibroadenomas; compared pathology core biopsy; contrasted age, pathology, size simple using Student's t test.Patients lesions 18.5 years older (median 47 years; range, 21-69 years) than noncomplex 28.5 12-86 (p < 0.001). half (average, 1.3 cm; 0.5-2.6 cm) 2.5 0.5-7.5 Only malignancy, an invasive lobular carcinoma, was (1.6%). This patient had atypical hyperplasia biopsy.Approximately 16% complex. smaller appear age. At mean follow-up 2 years, we low malignancy fibroadenomas. Women may therefore be managed conservative approach, similar approach now recommended women
