Strategies of Communities Faced with Climate Change in the Sahelian Zone of Burkina Faso: The Case of the Namissiguima Municipality in the Province of Yat Enga (Northern Region)

ABSTRACT
Climate change is a concern of our time, both at global level and community level, where its impacts vary according to context. According the Intergovernmental Panel on Change (IPCC), causes this are anthropogenic require urgent action part humanity in terms mitigation but also adaptation strengthen resilience populations. The municipality Namissiguima (13° 36′ 00″ north 2° 13′01″ west), province Yat Enga Burkina Faso, no exception. Located Sahelian agro-climatic zone Faso receiving less than 600mm water per year, it has population almost 59,000, 51.7% whom women 48.3% men, whose main occupations farming livestock rearing (94.6%). Through participatory analysis using “Trousse outils planification et suivi-evaluation des capacites d’adaptation au changement climatique (TOP-SECAC)”, paper aims analyze local communities’ perceptions climate variability their perceived causes, assess livelihoods, discuss strategies used by people mitigate these impacts.
