ABSTRACT
Aim: This study compares the outcomes of patients who receive an implantable loop recorder (ILR) for unexplained syncope to a control group without diagnostic device in German claims data. Methods and materials: Patients with ILR were matched based on prior events, age, gender Charlson Comorbidity index (CCI). Survival, hospitalizations, treatment costs compared. Results/conclusion: Four hundred twelve controls, mean age was 68, CCI 2.7, 42% females. lived average 1.2 years longer than group. Twenty-five percent received therapeutic compared 5% ILRs might help diagnose treat positive impact survival.
