EXPLORING TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOMS IN OMAN’S HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

ABSTRACT
This paper addresses the need to ensure that higher education is suitably adapted equip students with effective skills, which are regarded key requirements for a successful professional career in 21st century, and draws attention importance of these skills. In more detail, it reports on result study conducted across providers Sultanate Oman focused teachers’ critical thinking skills’ conceptual knowledge understanding; their views perception relation English language classroom; teaching development thinking. Findings reveal teachers perceive employing skills teaching, yet they lack support implementation. Both at an institutional level terms development, there scope improving how incorporated classrooms, instructional approaches materials.
