ABSTRACT
The dumps are areas of final disposal solid wastes directly into the soil, with no technical criteria or collecting systems gases liquids. A large part Brazilian municipalities have used this extreme damaging alternative to environment up year 2010, when a federal law made compulsory installation sanitary landfills. However, parts were simply abandoned, although some eventually go through treatment after assessments state environmental agencies. This work presents results geophysical investigation in dump deactivated 2004 small city southern Brazil, where previous investigations revealed contamination soil and groundwater by leachate. Structural analyzes area study combined geological data from monitoring wells indicate presence contaminants fractured granite, wide variation thickness saprolite level. integration chemical analyses electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) 2D 3D processing, existence contaminated within limits flowing aquifer partially free 5m depth. Such may decrease gradually increase depth between 9m 19m zones clearly predominate, associated flow aquifer. indication restricted oriented suggests targeting accumulation two preferential fractures. discovery these is fundamental for planning pumping decontamination groundwater, considering declining production leachate since closure dump.
