Education is Essential: Risk Factors for Frequent Hospitalization in Patients with COPD

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a common disease characterized by acute exacerbations requiring hospitalization.Objectives And Methods: The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics patients hospitalized with exacerbation COPD and risk factors associated frequent hospitalization. This conducted 113 between 2015 -2017.Results: There were 59(52.2%)patients in hospitalization group, 54(47.8%)patients non-frequent group.There 34(64%) under 65 years age, 25(42%) over age 19(36%) 35(58%) group(p=0.017).There 46(46.9%)literate patients, 13(86.7%)illiterate 52(53.1%)literate 2(13.3%)illiterate group(p=0.010).There significant difference two groups terms Long-Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT), BIPAPtherapy nebulizer treatment before (p=0.001,p=0.001,p=0.000).mMRC score, duration COPD, forced expiratory volume one secondand flow 25% 75% vital capacity significant(p=0.000,p=0.14,p=0.041, p=0.034). Multivariate analysis indicated that increased illiterate receiving treatment. Conclusion:Patients who are or receive at serious hospitalization.This group should be followed special care reduce hospitalizations.
