ABSTRACT
Rationale and Objectives Medical humanities are becoming increasingly popular, required, recognized as positively impacting medical education practice. However, the extent of teaching in schools is largely unknown. We aimed to review school curricula Canada, UK, US. Our secondary objective was compare inclusion with rankings schools. Methods searched curriculum websites all accredited US check which topics were taught, whether they mandatory or optional. then noted both by Times Higher Education U.S. News World Report calculated average rank. formally explored there an association between ranking offerings using Spearman’s correlation inverse variance weighting meta-analysis. Results identified 18 programmes 41 156 Of these, 9 (56%) 34 (73%) UK 124 (79%) offered at least one humanity that not ethics. The most common Unspecified Humanities, History, Literature (Canada), Sociology Social Medicine, Art (UK), Literature, History (US). There a negative relationship humanities. Conclusions content varies. quality our analysis limited data provided on Universities’ websites. Given potential for improve practice, this variation should be investigated further.
