ABSTRACT
Background: Whether the pandemic caused an increase in number of home accidents (HA) admitted to pediatric emergency department (PED) was investigated. Applications a similar quarter 2019 and 2020 were compared. Methods: The study retrospective. Their demographic data, reason for admission hospital, time admission, length hospital stay, intensive care rate, interventional procedures recorded. two groups compared find whether there any difference. Results: There 700 597 admissions specified reasons during period 2020, respectively. In 2019, 9.46% all cases PED HA whereas rate 24.43% 2020. male/female ratios (p=0.520). median age (36 months) significantly higher than that (33 (p=0.010). main clinical presentations also differed significantly. incidence falls, gastric/intestinal foreign bodies, penetrating stab injuries those (p<0.001). Significant differences found regarding diagnostic therapeutic interventions. During 623 patients (89.5%) discharged from PED. discharge (84.9%) lower. Also, more hospitalizations other wards (3.7% vs. 1.0%) (p=0.004). Conclusion: Covid-19 HAs relative admissions. most common type accident as non-pandemic period. delays accessing healthcare services, especially critically ill patients, frequent hospitalizations, decrease
