ABSTRACT
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of spacing on shape stem Pinus taeda L. at nine years old.The experiment with 9 different spacings covering areas 1 16 m² was installed in country Irati, Paraná.The data from treatments were grouped into classes diameter. The volume obtained by method Smalian, using trees represent each treatment diameter classes, totaling 81 trees. The form factor calculated express stems and completely randomized design used verify influence trunk. It observed denser that tends be larger, ie, they have more cylindrical trunks compared less dense spacing. The maximum value found (0,645) lowest one 10,5 (0,397), corresponded a difference 38,54%.The around 7,5 per tree seemed appropriate reduce trunk
