ABSTRACT
The effect of the casting modulus on distribution and features graphite in hypo-eutectic ductile iron unalloyed alloyed with nickel (0.88 wt %) was studied. cooling rate plates 25.4, 12.7 8.5 mm thickness a 6.87, 4.46 3.31 mm, respectively promotes several microstructural changes, such as cementite precipitation noticeable nodule count increment. addition suppressed formation improved nodularity for three evaluated. increased 69, 67 128 % 3.31, 6.87 respectively, regarding iron. It found that biggest produced nodules lowest both cast irons. Further to improvements features, allowed keep almost constant yield tensile strength ratio different modulus.
