ABSTRACT
This paper reviews the current status of Aichi Biodiversity Target 11 at global level.Although there remain gaps in coverage ecological regions and areas important for biodiversity ecosystem services, 10 per cent coastal marine under national jurisdiction has already been surpassed.The full implementation agreed priority actions other commitments, including those National Strategies Action Plans, will expand ocean beyond cent, result more than 17 terrestrial inland waters.These commitments also lead to substantial progress elements Target.Appropriate recognition effective area-based conservation measures governance types, inter alia, privately protected territories conserved by indigenous peoples local communities, currently underreported assessments, would further improve prospects achievement 11.This generate not only multiple benefits well-being society contributing solutions most challenges, but contribute Targets globally goals.Hence, concerted efforts all stakeholders facilitate towards achieving be a wise investment.
