Political Career Paths and the European Parliament

This study examines how seats in the European Parliament fit into domestic political careers. It shows that Parliament's four largest national delegations have developed a core of MEPs who made long-term commitments to institution. There are significant differences these patterns, but as whole they make it more likely future Parliaments will be filled with careerist view their principal arena, and seek increase institution's prestige power relative other institutions.
