ABSTRACT
Many vagrant passerines from the Western Palearctic have been documented in Japan. In present study, I tested following two hypotheses: (1) vagrancy of continental migrating to Japan is affected by migratory distance and direction, rather than normal distributional range; (2) related restlessness. Data on vagrants were collected various sources, effects distance, range, restlessness, distribution size examined. The results revealed significant positive with these being even when other variables controlled. had a marginally effect, but none remaining predicted occurrence vagrants. vicinity range was not predictor vagrancy. These findings indicate that endogenous program individuals responsible for Japan, sufficiently restless birds may reach Far East.
