ABSTRACT
Background: The prevalence of type 1 diabetes (T1D) is increasing within racially and ethnically marginalized populations, highlighting the need for effective recruitment strategies that not only address healthcare disparities but also rebuild trust in medical research. Recently, CoYoT1 to California (CTC) study evaluated a person-centered care model designed support diverse young adults (YA) who receive at hospital-based pediatric T1D clinic. In addition treatment effectiveness, examined success strategies. Methods: Potential YA participants were approached in-person or remotely (by phone, email, text). Those with clinic appointments during in-person, recruiters focusing on cultural humility connect families; concept process research was introduced, families allowed ask questions as needed.
