ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE—To describe the diagnosis of a patient with neonatal diabetes who had been misdiagnosed type 1 and referred to our hospital for pancreas kidney transplantation because end-stage renal disease. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS—A was made after molecular genetic study revealed mutation in exon 34 ABCC8 gene. Pancreas ill-advised. RESULTS—The switched from insulin glibenclamide 4 months transplantation, confirming that would not have good decision. CONCLUSIONS—This is first report developed diabetic nephropathy progressed This illustrates careful endocrinological evaluation, including studies, if necessary, mandatory before decision perform transplant made.
