ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE—Recent studies have proved that blockade of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) retards progression diabetic nephropathy, whereas hyporeninemia is known as a typical state in subjects. The purpose this study to determine whether expression levels RAS differ between nondiabetic and renal tissues with accurate quantitative method. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS—Subjects were 66 8 patients biopsy-proven diseases. eight subjects suffered from type 2 diabetes overt proteinuria. Renal histology revealed diffuse or nodular lesions linear IgG deposit on immunofluorescent staining thickened basement membrane electronic microscopy. Total RNA small part cortical biopsy specimens was reverse-transcribed, resultant cDNA amplified for new major components (i.e., renin, renin receptor, angiotensinogen, ACE, ACE2, angiotensin II 1 receptor) measured. RESULTS—Among these components, significant upregulation observed ACE gene tissue. CONCLUSIONS—The results suggest tissue might be activated respect upregulated spite tendency low nephropathy.
