ABSTRACT
SUMMARY This case report presents treatment of a mandibular second molar with an extensive proximal margin, which was finished on amalgam-stained dentin. A resin-modified glass ionomer for margin elevation and a lithium disilicate onlay were used to restore the tooth to proper form and function. The patient has been followed for six years and has had no complications during this period.
