ABSTRACT
The main aim of this study was to assess the free lipid composition plant community in a Chinese peatland. Twelve species from Dajiuhu Peatland were analyzed for compositions n-alkanes, n-fatty alcohols and sterols leaves roots. are significantly different between root leaf most plants. In some cases, roots yield more long chain n-alkanes n-alkanols than corresponding plant. half characterized by higher Cmax (homologue with maximum concentration) relative leaves. root-derived steroidal ketones may be important sources compounds within peat. Because leaves, attention should paid lipids investigations their source assessment soils terrestrial sediments, where organic matter can an source. contribution especially peatlands, acidic and/or anoxic conditions subsoil limit degradation litter.
