ABSTRACT
Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) is a multi-light imaging technique using camera on fixed position and orthogonal to the studied surface, while varying light for each image captured. This allows reconstruction of surface's visual appearance characterization surface by providing additional information deformations local micro-geometry. RTI was applied historical model glass corroded in presence volatile organic compounds (VOCs) visualize early stages corrosion. used create relighting visualizations generate maps based statistical descriptors derived from reflectance distribution pixels. Selected were able assist quantification corrosion signs i.e., fine cracks salt neocrystallizations (SN), more global scale as compared digital microscopy (DM). Therefore, could provide an solution transparent colourless surfaces, which not be visualized simple RGB photography neither with transmitted nor reflected light.
