Oral health status and Unmet Restorative Treatment Needs (UTN) in disadvantaged migrant and not migrant children in Italy.

ABSTRACT
Despite a global decline in caries experience children, dental remains common and persistent public health problem, being more prevalent among socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. The aim of this survey is to evaluate DMFT index, prevalence Unmet Restorative Treatment Needs (UNT) index migrant not children with low income, Campania region (Italy), order plan build up strategies for promoting adequate care vulnerable groups.A sample 553 (age range: 12-14 years old) were recruited from volunteer patients at charitable foundation Naples (Italy) categorised into 2 subgroups, according their status "migrant" or "not migrant". Parents completed questionnaire investigate demographic oral behaviour. participants healthy family income levels. scores calculated; UNT was also calculated [D?(D + F)]%. mean values related the examined variables using one-way ANOVA.Mean UTN 3.92±2.92 86.3% migrants, 3.29±3.21 68.4% respectively. difference between two groups statistically significant (p=.027). Caries 77.5% 55.9% group group, High associated history previous visit, sugar intake, brushing teeth once day, mothers' educational level both groups.Economically showed high levels caries. Furthermore, values, unmet restorative treatment needs higher than that migrant. In reduce inequalities experience, there need design policies aimed primary prevention through promotion programmes.
