ABSTRACT
The investigation was carried out during rabi season (November–April) of 2020–2021 in the polyhouse, Department Genetics and Plant Breeding, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, India. CRD (Completely Randomize Design) were used 3 replications with objective to assess performance 20 chickpea genotypes under salinity stress conditions order identify that demonstrate greater tolerance these conditions. To induce stress, NaCl salts administer two split doses 120 mM sowing at 15 DAS. study evaluated a range parameters, including phenological, physiological, morphological, biochemical, yield examine impact salt on exhibit varying levels tolerance. Total proline content increment is due increase related proteins salinity. parameters non-saline whereas conditions, will get reduce. findings revealed an total Proline production stress-related stress; however, negatively affected most significant decrease observed treatment group compared control group. ICC5439 GNG 1581 emerged as highly tolerant while ICC 6050, 251, 252, 262 exhibited medium In contrast, ICC253, 247, 249 found be susceptible genotypes, remaining showing minimal sensitivity stress.
