Epidemiological and Clinical Characteristics of Hepatitis C Viral Infections in Tertiary Centres in Sulaimani City / Kurdistan Region of Iraq

ABSTRACT
Hepatitis C infection is one of the most common causes chronic liver disease. It growing threat and main burden on public health. Globally more than 170 million people are infected with hepatitis virus (HCV), up to 4 new infections annually each year 350000 dies HCV related complications, including cirrhosis hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Thus this descriptive case-series study was conducted in five health facilities Sulaimani city, from 23rd December 2015 10th June 2016. The data were collected 180 patients by face interview; they interviewed privately using a structured questionnaire. P-values ≤0.05 considered statistically significant. Out patients, 45% males 55% females, mean age cases 33.18 years, regarding marital status 55.5% single. majority diagnosed routine screening. Most (70.7%) had no signs symptoms at time diagnosis. In patient least two identifiable risk factors for getting reported. Among that genotype test, 67.2% them genotyope1. More three-quarters participants elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) aspartate (AST). future studied parameters practical skills should be performed significantly reduce Sulaimani.
